My sister and brother in law started CrossFit. Katelyn, my wife, and I had been bored with our workouts and were looking for something new and challenging to us. She found CrossFit I35 online so we decided to try it. I was a college athlete, so lifting and body weight activities were part of my college life. The bad part is I had stopped doing those activities after college, and was not able to do them anymore. When I started CrossFit I was able to get back to my college style of training, and I loved it. I was being competitive with myself again, it was intense, pushed me, and challenged me. I then started challenging myself with other activities like gymnastic moves, and am now able to do handstand push ups and kipping pull ups. My lifting is getting stronger as well. My initial goals when I started were the hand stand push ups and kipping pull up, plus consistently increasing on my lifts. Now, I want to continue increasing the weights, learn butterfly pull ups, ring dips, and eventually get the muscle up After college, I did not find fitness fun. Nothing motivated me to come or motivated me to stick to it. I was bored easily and would find reasons to not go. Now, I have a community that pushes me and supports me. I get excited about certain workouts and dread others. When I finish the ones I dread, I feel accomplished that I did it. It is always exciting, and I look forward to getting my workout in, even if it is at 530 am. I was scared I would become one of those people who is addicted and only talks about CrossFit. I would have to search for topics of conversation just to avoid hearing about CrossFit. Now I see the love they have. I see why they get excited about it. I get excited too. I have learned that proper diet with the workouts truly helps. I used to workout so I could eat unhealthy and have drinks any time of the week. Now I don’t eat perfectly, but I do focus more on eating positively and cut back on the drinks. I love the community at Crossfit I35. They are my family. My favorite part is I get to do all of these workouts with my amazing wife. She works out with my every day. She supports me, cheers me on, and also no reps me. It has brought us closer and we have fun growing in CrossFit together. I am strong now. I look strong. Not overly strong, just strong and it helps me feel good about myself. I like being able to easily move things and be in shape to do other activities.
